Dave Kleck: The Classic

Dave Kleck: The Classic

Dave Kleck: A Voice for Athletics and Beyond

Experience is an amazing teacher, and few people embody that truth quite like Dave Kleck.

For nearly 50 years, Dave has been a familiar voice across Henry County—not just calling games, but building connection. While many know him for sports, his impact reaches far beyond the field. Dave has always believed that the most important word in the English language is your name, and for decades he’s made sure people heard theirs.

Roots In Community

Growing up in Archbold, surrounded by coaching, competition, and community, Dave learned early that relationships matter. That lesson carried him from playing baseball at Ashland to a broadcasting career that spanned Idaho and Nebraska, and ultimately back home as a Buckeye. Along the way, mentors like Bob McLimans and Joy Link shaped his passion for local storytelling—stories rooted in people, not just results.

Radio, to Dave, has never been about highlights alone. It’s about creating an experience for those at home—painting pictures with words, capturing the emotion in the stands, and recognizing moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

A Voice For Many

Dave’s voice has consistently been one of service—celebrating not only athletes, but also the non-athletes whose contributions deserve recognition just as much. His commitment to naming, acknowledging, and honoring people has made a lasting difference—from the students, volunteers, musicians, graduates, and community members who give Henry County its heartbeat.

High school sports may bring a community together on Friday nights, but Dave’s influence shows up every day. Through his work, he’s reminded us that community is built through attention, gratitude, and care—and that being seen matters.

Dave Kleck isn’t just a broadcaster. He’s a champion for Henry County—and a voice that has touched the entire community.

Side Note:

One of the core principles behind what we do is creating products for the people who live and work hard right here in our community. The Classic was built with Dave Kleck in mind—a reflection of that same work ethic and commitment to others. Our hope is that folks across Northwest Ohio and beyond hear this part of Dave’s story and feel inspired to serve their own communities through the work they do.

Serving others is a timeless virtue.
