My grand parents, Ned and Leona Cox carved out a living on a 110 acres outside Weston, Ohio. An Allis Chalmers Gleaner combine, small selection of tractors and equipment provided a modest, yet rewarding life for their family.
As a youngin,’ I developed a first love when it came to farming. My favorite crop was Winter Wheat. Its lush, green appearance in the emergence of winter and first chance to hop in the swing seat of the Ol’ Minneapolis Moline Z tractor for summer harvest made it an easy first choice.
Today, farming may look a little different, but the satisfaction of a little dirt under the finger nails, the stress from weather, bugs and all the earthly elements are still part of the deal.
It’s you. Your heritage.
Enjoy the work, the relationships and memories connected to your family and rural community.
Whether you are a full time producer, one the kids helping out mom and dad, or splitting the duties with a sibling, this is part of your legacy.
Make sure you take the time to reflect, take inventory of what matters most, and maybe even get a little rest.
Thanks for being amazing at what you do!
